Assignment #6- Blck History Month

For my Black History Month assignment, I have chosen Donovan Bailey. Who is a Canadian Olympic gold medalist.

Donovan Bailey was born in Manchester,Jamaica. He came to Canada at the age of thirteen with his mother. He was very successful in running track but he spent most of his time playing basketball. When he graduated high school he went off to college. After graduating college he became a successful stockbroker. While he was watching a Canadian track and field championship, he noticed that some of the athletes on the team were his high school classmates that he beat in running track.

So he started running 100 metre and excelled in them, he later then joined the national Canadian team. Later then he met a coach named Don Pfaff at the 1993 world championships, and saw his talent, and self confidence. He invited Donovan to train with him at Louisiana State University, he took the offer.

Wins after wins. He began to dominate every championship his team entered. Then came the 1996 summer Olympics where he broke a world record. He ran only 9.84 seconds also winning the gold medal.
I chose Donovan bailey because I thought he did many great things and became successful and fulfilled what he is good at. He has a lot of great things to be proud of.

Assignment #5- Its Really Cold BRR

There are some pros and cons about winter.
For me though there are way more cons then pros.
Winter is very hard for Canadians living in Canada. We have to deal with the harsh weather every year, and it feels like its getting even worse every year. This past 3 weeks was one of the worse winters I've experienced, its was so cold that exposed skin will get a frostbite within a 10 minute time period. That sound really bad. I do know that winter will not be going anywhere so we have to try our best to stay warm and fight through the struggle.
The First Canadian settlers have been through a lot during the winters back then. They had to cut their own wood for warmth an food. They spent hours in the cold just doing that and now we have fireplaces in our house we don't even bother going outside. Its amazing how they can be so brave. I know for sure I wouldn't be able to do that, I can't even go outside and shuffle the snow.

I was born in Canada so I'm kind of use to the cold weather. My parents came to North America when they were around 16. They said their first winter was quite the experience. My dad said he loved winter because her thought it was beautiful looking and my mother said she strongly disliked it. I found that she disliked winter so much when she wore 7 layers when going outside...Yeah I was shocked to. I like winter because of how it looks from a window it's so pretty..but when you step outside that's when the hate starts. Other then that winter can be cool. :)

What If the Future looks like this:O

Martin Luther King Jr Assignment

Martin Luther King Jr words and bravery to stand up against racism has somewhat made the world a better place. His words make people of colour to rise up to their thoughts and share their concerns and ideas to the world. The world now can stand together no matter what race or generation, they are not ashamed to be from the same world but different cultural backgrounds.

Martin Luther King Jr words made me think of how the United States was 50 years ago and now look. There are some people that haven't bothered to change but his words have got to tons and tons of people that can still stand up to the few who don't care. It made me feel like we can stand together as a world and be leaders together and make this world a better place. He made me feel that everyone has the power to do things they set their minds to and that no one else can tell them what to do.

They mad me feel this way because the words he used were so gratifying and convincing. When he read this speech he spoke it so wisely and with confidence like he had nothing else on his mind and he had no worries of such type.

I thought the students presentation was really prodigious. I thought they did a great job. They didn't even stumble on a word. I think that it is great that they are teaching small children history so they can understand the concepts of being a world and changes that people have done to make this a better world.

I think Martin Luther Kings Jr's ideas to my own life by standing up to want I want In life and not let anything hold me back from fulfilling my dreams.
